Kim Kardashian West Channels Kanye West’s Latest Yeezy 350 Boost In Blue Tint From Head To Toe
Kim Kardashian West clearly loves husband Kanye West’s designs. The reality star and businesswoman, who is half of #theworldsmosttalkedaboutcouple, stepped out Friday night in Los Angeles with kids North and Saint dressed from head-to-toe in ice blue — a shade that happens to be West’s latest color offering of his highly coveted Yeezy Boosts. While the cool kicks were released last weekend to much fanfare, Kardashian West put her own ladylike twist on the palette starting with her frosty mane to her icy boots.
Kardashian West has embraced playing with her hair color to match her looks — take note of the Yeezy Season 6 paparazzi captured guerrilla lookbook — but Friday’s ensemble elevated the label’s streetwear inspiration to new heights. A sea blue shearling was the ideal topper for an icy bandeau top and tonally coordinated sweatpants. Clingy ivory boots grounded the look with a fresh step while an oversized gold medallion was Kardashian West’s only hint of bling. As for the kids, Kardashian West ensured North and Saint were equally fresh in new releases from her and West’s childrenswear label, Kids Supply.

The Subtle Art of Couples Who Match Their Clothes
The other day, en route to a date at Christie’s Auction House, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez stepped out in looks that lightly matched. Both were dressed in a kind of assassin's uniform — long coats and sunglasses — looking different enough but also in sync. The pairing felt totally unlike the cringeworthy matchy-matchy images of, say, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears in head-to-toe eveningwear denim at the 2001 American Music Awards. Or megastars Victoria and David Beckham in 1999 who took a more-is-more approach to matching when they celebrated their wedding reception by both donning the same striking hue of purple. Instead, Lopez and Rodriguez appeared as if their personal styles had gently rubbed off on each other, with only chic results.
Couples who subtly match have historically evoked an effortlessly cool attitude. Take Gwyneth Paltrow: In the late ‘90, she had a yin-yang aesthetic with then-fiancé Brad Pitt. Both of them favored leather blazers and slacker sweaters. (An ultimate testament to their allegiance to each other came with the debut of the same double-take, chin-length, blond hairdos at a movie premiere back in 1997.) Later on, in the 2000s, she dated Ben Affleck. One stellar airport photo shows Paltrow arm-in-arm with a hulking, goatee-sporting Affleck — both are wearing gray and black and casting long and linear silhouettes.
Other famous low-key twinners include Winona Ryder and her former fiancé Johnny Depp. In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, the two had a collection of tailored blazers that they louchely styled with tee shirts and a bevy of sleeveless tanks. After Ryder and Depp had split, he began dating model Kate Moss. Paparazzi-snapped photos show Depp and Moss sporting worn-in vintage leather jackets or in chunky sweaters.
Is matching such a bizarre phenomenon among those in love? Not necessarily. My mother often says that people are attracted to partners who resemble themselves. (The first time she met my former boyfriend, she looked him up and down and said, “You two look like brother and sister.” That day, I was wearing his leather jacket.) My mother’s theory isn’t totally unfounded: Scientifically, people are attracted to mirrors of themselves.. Freakily enough, this is also true with dogs—yes, there is the idea that people choose dogs that resemble themselves.
But significant others and their mimicking outfits may be a result not of science but of sharing a wardrobe. Vogue.com Culture Editor Alessandra Codinha weighs in on this point. “My boyfriend and I share, I think, a similar affinity for the classics: good blue jeans, cashmere sweaters in neutral tones, good t-shirts,” she writes. “I think that if we had never met, he wouldn't be dressing drastically differently (nor would I), but I do think we have probably 'rubbed off' on each other. We spend a lot of time together and are exposed to the same things.”
Vogue.com’s Fashion News and Emerging Platforms Editor Steff Yotka had an almost telepathic sharing experience recently when she showed up at a concert with her boyfriend to discover they were both wearing striped shirts. This kind of thing is not that unusual. “It happens about three times a week,” she says. There is, of course, a confounding factor in Yotka's case. “I buy most of his clothes.”
On the runway, lookalike wardrobes between couples have been a thing for awhile. While Undercover and Thom Browne have gone the literal doppelgänger route, which can be a bit freaky IRL, Opening Ceremony’s Spring 2018 lookbook showed couples wearing looks that could have been charmingly plucked from the same closet. Meanwhile, Balenciaga's Spring 2018 Mens show took things a step further, presenting families all in similar styles.
As for those who put it into action? In South Korea, couples actually attend fashion week dressed up to complement one another. Maybe they're on to something. At the end of the day, an easy, breezy, and not-super-contrived matching outfit can be a way to say "we're together." And that's never a bad look.

Why Katy Perry Is Still Music’s Kookiest Fashion Chameleon
No popstar does kitsch better than Katy Perry. The performer, who turns 33 today, has a long history of wearing tongue-in-cheek creations. From her days sporting whipped cream bras to her lengthy collaboration with kindred spirit Jeremy Scott, Perry has turned her affinity for kooky clothes into an art form. Though she switched to a more sophisticated high fashion aesthetic this year with the release of her album, Witness, Perry hasn’t abandoned the sweetness she’s become known for.
Onstage, Perry’s get-ups are outlandish as ever. In custom looks by designers Nguyen Cong Tri and Zaldy, she treats fans to over the top performances accented by chainmail headdresses, ruffles covered in polka dots, and futuristic gold armor. Equal parts vampy and eccentric, the costumes help to bring songs such as “Firework” and “Bon Appetit” to life. Granted, Perry could choose to sing in jeans or the tracksuits she wears during rehearsals, but where’s the fun in that? Bringing the jovial spirit of her show wardrobe into every day outfits, Perry is the first to step out in statement pieces. The marabou feathered Vivetta and flame-covered Moschino resort ensembles she wore while filming American Idol in New Orleans last week are just a couple of examples.
Overall, Perry has used this year to assert her newly evolved style, a combination of elegance and attention-grabbing. Whether that meant sitting front row at Chanel in astronaut-printed culottes, or pulling out pleat-covered Masaki Matsuka for press dates in London, she’s managed to upgrade her look without losing her personality. Though she’s become a red carpet risk-taker with a wardrobe full of designer goods, Perry hasn’t lost her unconventional touch and continues to seek out quirky fashion wherever she can find it. At a meet-and-greet in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month, she spotted a fan in a custom bedazzled dress featuring Witness’s eye-logo and ordered two on the spot: one for her and another for her dog, Nugget.

Even Royals Can’t Resist Saint Laurent—And Charlotte Casiraghi Leads the Pack
Admit it, Saint Laurent is not the first label that comes to mind when you think about royals. In its current phase, with Anthony Vaccarello turning out leather minidresses and crystal-covered thigh-high boots, the label provides hard rock glamour for anyone daring enough to take on its body-conscious aesthetic. But it turns out there are plenty of monarchs who love the style, as Vaccarello’s front row was teeming with young royals. At tonight’s Spring 2018 show, Monegasque beauty Charlotte Casiraghi led the brigade in a sleek black overcoat, sheer blouse, and leather shorts. Accompanied by her little sister, Princess Alexandria von Hannover, Casiraghi made her grand entrance in a variation of the looks seen on the Saint Laurent runway.
With a reputation as one of the best dressed royals around, Casiraghi is known for taking fashion risks, but her Saint Laurent moments always rank among her most daring. The brand provides her with minimalist pieces that never fail to make a strong statement: displaying skin or going for a bold sexiness that runs counter to accepted notions of princess dressing. While it remains to be seen whether she’ll be wearing any of the fringed boots or scrunchie tops that Vaccarello presented today, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to bring regal fashion into the present.

Bella Hadid Has the Best Track Pants In the Street Style Game
Is there anyone who does athleisure better than Bella Hadid? The supermodel has no shortage of sweat suits and sports bras hanging in her closet, and frequently wears the cozy styles everywhere from the airport to the street in new and unexpected ways. Take the monochromatic ensemble she wore earlier today in New York. Sure, there’s nothing new about pairing track pants with a midriff-baring top, but she took the idea in another direction by throwing a simple white button-down into the mix.
The supermodel’s pants are by breakout Korean designer Hyein Seo, and featured pithy phrases up and down the sides such as “permanent vacation” and “viva en la cruz,” messaging which felt right in line with her breezy linen blouse over top. She left the shirt unbuttoned, naturally, to reveal a matching bra top underneath, a styling move that was in keeping with her known predilection for the swimtimates trend. Hadid strapped on a silver metallic mini backpack with fluorescent orange straps that popped, but chose sunglasses and jewelry in a contrasting gold finish for extra flash.

Gigi Hadid Proves That Two Statement Pieces Are Better Than One
Gigi Hadid has no shortage of statement pants hanging up in her closet. This summer alone we’ve seen her turn out in every iteration imaginable: millennial pink bell-bottoms, pale blue paper-bag trousers, are just a couple of examples currently in rotation. The supermodel has taken a minimalist approach to the idea for the most part, paring back on styling the piece, so it was a refreshing change of pace to see her step out in New York today in a bold graphic T-shirt with equally eye-catching flares. After all, why settle for one attention-grabbing piece when you can have several?
Hadid zipped into lipstick-red pants by SemSem and slipped on a pair of Stuart Weitzman suede mules in the same shade. The throwback Star Wars shirt T-shirt sent a message that read fun and quirky—a nice alternative to the vintage band tees that have been popping up on the street style circuit lately. Hadid added a finishing sense of polish in the form of a Tyler Ellis top-handle bag and her signature oversize sunglasses.

Zendaya Has a Millennial Barbie Red Carpet Moment
Millennial pink is here to stay: Everyone from Gigi Hadid to Kendall Jenner has been putting a youthful spin on the ubiquitous hue. Earlier this week, Hadid infamously dressed up like Millennial Barbie in pink leather pants and a matching jacket, like the real-life version of the SoCal Gigi Hadid Barbie doll released last fall. Now, Zendaya is following in her footsteps with the red carpet complement. (It’s only fitting, considering that Zendaya was made into her own Zendaya Barbie doll, too.)
At the world premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming in Hollywood, the star hit a high note in custom Ralph & Russo. The electric pink was eye-catching, but the dress’s cut really amped up the statement factor with its plunging neckline down the pleated bodice and a thigh slit cut up to there. A matching scarf tied around the neck trailed behind her—perfect for exiting the premiere in, say a Barbie-pink convertible—while Casadei’s matching pointed-toe heels made for the ultimate fashion-fantasy finish.

Melania Trump Wears Belgian Designer Maison Ullens and Dolce & Gabbana in Brussels
It’s the final stretch of the Trumps’ first international trip, and earlier today, Melania Trump paid homage to the city of Brussels in a suit from Belgian designer Maison Ullens. This latest skirt suit, designed by Myriam Ullens de Schooten, falls in line with the First Lady’s style, as seen thus far. For a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara at the White House and more recently in Jerusalem, Trump opted for strongly tailored, optic white suits by Karl Lagerfeld and Michael Kors, respectively. Today’s look pushed things further, thanks to exposed stitching that recalled the Hervé Pierre leather skirt she wore to leave the White House last week.
The light taupe suit came with a tonal, built-in belt, a signature detail that the First Lady employs often. Grounding the look were snakeskin Manolo Blahnik stilettos; Trump’s diamond ring acted as her only accessory. At a dinner hosted by Queen Mathilde of Belgium a few hours later, Trump changed into another black lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, swapping out her stilettos for the Italian house’s embellished floral sandals.

Yes, Selena Gomez Changed Outfits 3 Times Today
Selena Gomez has serious range when it comes to style. One moment, she’s hitting a playful note at Coachella in a floral frock, the next, she’s mastered sophistication in a monochromatic maxi at a friend’s outdoor wedding. Today, while hosting the WE Day California event to celebrate young people changing the world, Gomez stepped out in pale blue suit separates that fit the formal occasion—one of three different looks she wore in less than 24 hours.
To walk the red carpet, Gomez picked Brock Collection’s gingham off-the-shoulder jacket, but toned down the buttoned-up nature of the traditional blazer by revealing a hint of midriff. Wide-leg trousers gave an ultra-flattering line, as did a pair of patent-leather Christian Louboutin pumps in a complementary pastel hue. To take the event stage, Gomez traded the suiting for boyfriend jeans in a classic rinse. At one point, she threw on a leather jacket by Jenny Packham decorated with painterly hearts, clouds, and stars, then switched into a cute black T-shirt with a red kiss across the front by Sonia Rykiel. Coupled with her denim, it read like a distinct ’90s throwback, elevated simply by a pair of patent-leather Mary Janes with a gold metallic heel—an easy quick-change with major results.

Alexa Chung Has This Whole Edie Sedgwick Style Thing Down
When Alexa Chung stepped out for breakfast with her boyfriend, Alexander Skarsgård, early this morning, she looked like herself, sure, but in a decidedly Edie Sedgwick kind of way. The model was seen crossing the street in New York’s East Village in a mash-up of essentials made famous by one of the original It girls.
The animal-print look was a favorite of Sedgwick’s, and Chung doubled down on it by adding a skinny scarf overtop. In a varsity stripe, it looked like it could have been plucked from the closet of Bob Dylan, who, lest we forget, was another favorite of Sedgwick’s. Chung’s cat-eye sunglasses were also in line with the late actress’s accessories, plus the tortoiseshell shade and metallic gold detail tied in nicely with the colors of Chung’s coat.
Sedgwick often took to monochromatic pieces in all-over tonal black—black dresses, black leopards, black turtlenecks—but we like that Chung switched it up with a navy fisherman’s sweater in a cozy cable-knit. Her faded skinnies were classic Sedgwick, though, as were the flat ankle boots in the same shade.

Argentina’s First Lady and Spain’s Queen Cement Their Chic Alliance
And so the budding fashion friendship between Argentina’s First Lady Juliana Awada and Spain’s Queen Letizia continues. The chic figureheads were captured yesterday practically twinning in similar shades of pale pink as they walked the grounds of Spain’s Royal Palace on the first day of Awada’s four-day trip to the country with her husband, President Mauricio Macri. Something of a fashion spread come to life, the diplomatic visit for the Argentinian First Family was most certainly off to a picturesque start. And with a visit today to the opening of Spain’s contemporary art fair, ARCO, the two women once again seemed united by their refined tastes, showing off two very polished—but distinct—looks.
Sheathed in a red, white, and blue silk pussy-bow shirtdress, Awada breezed through the exhibits under the heels of round-toe Mary Janes. Cool and unstudied, with her hair pulled back into a slightly tousled ponytail, the First Lady and fashion entrepreneur looked like an in-the-know patron of the arts. Beside her, Queen Letizia was zipped up into a minimalist white sculptural dress that flared ever so slightly. Playing with contours and shapes, the piece seemed to be a nod to the installations that surrounded them. The Spanish royal’s python pumps brought a bit of texture and edge to her neutral look. Chatting away with artists and even making some crafts with kids, the two ladies may have taken a different approach to the gallery-hopping attire, but it was clear they both have an eye for detail.

Women's March Draws Scarlett Johansson, America Ferrera and More to Washington
Scarlett Johannson, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, America Ferrera and a slew of other stars took to the streets Saturday to join hundreds of thousands of people protesting in favor of women's rights and equality a day after Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States.
Speaking onstage at the Women's March on Washington, D.C., Ferrera told the crowd, "We are gathered here and across the country and around the world today to say, 'Mr. Trump, we refuse.'"
"It's been a heartbreaking time to be both a woman and an immigrant in this country," the Ugly Betty alum, the daughter of Honduran immigrants, told the crowd. "Our dignity, our character, our rights have all been under attack and a platform of hate and division assumed power yesterday."
"We march today for our families and our neighbors, for our future, for the causes that we claim and the causes that claim us," Ferrera said. "We march today for the moral core of this nation, against which our new president is waging a war."
Johannson talked about the importance of women's health, Planned Parenthood and access to reproductive services.
"President Trump, I did not vote for you," she said. "That said, I respect that you are our President-elect and I want to be able to support you but first I ask that you support me, support my sister, support my mother...support my daughter who may actually, as a result of the appointments you have made, grow up in a country that is moving backwards, not forward and who may potentially not have the right to make choices for her body and her future that your daughter Ivanka has been privileged to have."
"I ask you to support all women and our fight for equality in all things," she said, adding, "I pledge my relentless devotion to women's healthcare initiatives. I will not stop fighting to make basic women's healthcare available to all."
Other celebrities who spoke at the Women's March on Washington included Madonna, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, Michael Moore, Alicia Keys, Janelle Monáe and Ashley Judd.
Katy Perry announced on Instagram she would be marching with sister Angela Hudson.
"Marching with SO many sisters today but my heart is most proud to march with my blood sister, Angela, who has always been my guardian angel," she wrote. "We should all be guardians for each other. I march today because I am not afraid anymore and I hope I can be an example of fearlessness and resilience. I will not let anyone suppress me, silence me or clip my wings."
"For a long time I misunderstood the true definition of being a feminist, but now that I know, I am empowered!" she said. "I am indisputably a feminist. I am here today to break the cycle of suppression and inequality. I stand with you all! ♥#whyimarch @womensmarch."
Women's rights marches also took place in cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas and Park City, Utah, where many celebs are in town for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Cyrus marched in Los Angeles, where the subways were extraordinarily packed with participants rushing to get to the protest. Other celebrity attendees included Joseph Gordon-Levitt, pregnant Lauren Conrad and Willow Smith, E! News has learned. Holly Madison marched in Las Vegas.
In Park City, Charlize Theron and Maria Bello marched together alongside women holding pink signs supporting Planned Parenthood and women's rights. Many of the participants across the country wore pink wool hats with kitty ears.
"When they punch you in the p---y, Punch them back harder with your p---y power!" Bello shouted, according to Variety reporter Jim Rainey.
Mary Steenburgen, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jennifer Beals and Laura Dern also took part in the protest, as did Teigen's husband, singer John Legend, and Benjamin Bratt.
